DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Loras College men's tennis team fell short to Central College Friday afternoon at Tucker Tennis Courts.
Central swept doubles action to take an early 1–0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Diego Mejias and
Gage Becker dropped a 6–4 match to Ayden Fletcher and AJ Wilkins. Samuel Canas Guerrero and
Sean Sonoiki fell 6–0 to Jack Briggs and Benny Ramker at No. 2, while
Lucas Healy and
Jackson Craig also lost 6–0 at No. 3 to Travis Subbert and Alex Slaymaker.
In singles play, Mejias earned the Duhawks' first point with a straight-sets win over Fletcher, 6–4, 6–3, at the No. 1 position. Becker pushed Briggs to three sets at No. 2 but ultimately fell, 6–2, 6–7 (3), 5–7. At No. 3, Canas Guerrero dropped a tight match to Wilkins, 1–6, 6–4, 0–6. Ramker outlasted Healy at No. 4, 6–4, 7–5, while Sonoiki picked up the second point for Loras at No. 5 with a 7–5, 6–1 victory over Slaymaker.
Andrew Day fell to Gavin Jablonski at No. 6, 6–0, 6–3.
