DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team returned to the win column Thursday afternoon with a dominant 7-0 victory over Ripon College at Tucker Tennis Courts.
The Duhawks set the tone early, sweeping doubles play. At No. 1 doubles,
Gage Becker and
Jackson Craig secured a 6-1 win over Caleb Sippel and Austin Stevens.
Nick Carney and
Lucas Healy followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 against Corey Mooney and Ty Rondestvedt, while Samuel Canas Guerrero and
Jack Seda closed out doubles play with a 7-5 win over Kyle Flook and Ryan Richter, giving Loras a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.
Loras carried its momentum into singles play, winning all six matches. Diego Mejias battled to a hard-fought victory at No. 1, outlasting Sippel 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
Henry Condo followed with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Mooney at No. 2. Carney claimed a three-set victory at No. 3, defeating Stevens 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
Diego Hernandez Arrazate cruised past Flook 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5, and Seda wrapped up the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Richter at No. 6.
