Cox Breaks School Record as Women's Track and Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season at Wartburg Outdoor Select

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Loras College women's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Wartburg Outdoor Select on Friday and Saturday, April 4-5.

The Duhawks picked up where they left off, highlighted by Caitlyn Cox's record-breaking performance in the hammer throw. Cox took first place with a mark of 56.37 meters, surpassing the previous school record by more than a meter.

Emma Seipel returned to top form in the opening meet of her final outdoor season. She recorded a personal best time of 11.81 seconds in the 100-meter dash to secure first place. Her time ranks second in program history and fifth nationally. Seipel also won the long jump with a leap of 5.84 meters.

Harmony Creasy posted a strong performance as well, finishing second in the long jump with a mark of 5.70 meters, which ranks ninth in Division III. She also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.21 seconds, ranking 23rd nationally.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Bailey Vaughan and Natalia Wrobel each set personal records. Vaughan finished fourth with a time of 11:51.22, followed closely by Wrobel at 11:54.13. The times now stand as the eighth- and ninth-fastest in program history, respectively.

Riley Vice added another top performance for Loras, placing fourth in the discus with a throw of 44.60 meters, which moved her to eighth all-time in school history.

The Duhawks capped the meet with an impressive showing in the 4x100-meter relay. The team of Creasy, Layla Hughes, Meghan McDonald and Seipel finished with a time of 47.39 seconds, ranking 11th in Division III.

Up Next: Loras heads to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville to compete at the UWP Invite on Saturday, April 12.
