NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Loras College men's volleyball outside hitter,
Corey Mayotte, and middle blocker,
Roman Rothermel, were both picked as College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Athletes of the Week as released by the conference office on Monday.
For the fifth time this season, Mayotte has been named the league's Hitter of the Week. The Geneva, Ill. native hit .587 across both contests, averaging 4.16 kills/set. He added three service aces, six digs and two blocks to his stat line as well. Mayotte remains at the top of the national leaderboard in both kills/set (5.28) and points/set (5.96).
Rothermel earned his second Defensive Player of the Week award after totaling nine blocks (1.5 blocks/set) in a pair of sweeps last week. The Menomonee Falls, Wis. native also contributed offensively, putting down 2.66 kills/set and hitting .481 across both matches. The sophomore currently leads the conference in hitting percentage (.452) and ranks second in blocks (0.94 blocks/set).
The Duhawks host the No. 3-seeded North Central College Cardinals in a CCIW Tournament Semifinal match on Wednesday, April 9. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Lillis Court.
