DUBUQUE, Iowa – Behind a complete game shutout from Kaili Henning in game one and Clare Murphy heroics in game two, the Loras College softball team swept their midweek doubleheader against the Coe College Kohawks on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Game One: Loras 3, Coe College 0
 
After a scoreless first inning, Kiya Steger welcomed her former team to Faber-Clark Field with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Loras (16-11 overall, 3-4 A-R-C) was able to add runs in the fourth and fifth innings to extend their lead. In the fourth, Ava Franklin scored on a wild pitch while an infield single from Katherine Svigelj scored Emily Monahan, who tripled to lead off the inning in the fifth.
 
The Kohawks (10-17, 1-2) threatened in the top of the sixth by loading the bases with only one out in the inning. However, Henning was able to work herself out of the jam by getting Marisa Vodicka to pop out before striking out Hadyn Shoots to end the threat.
 
Henning would go onto retire the side in the top of the seventh en route to her sixth win of the year. Henning threw seven shutout innings, allowing six hits while striking out eight.
 
Game Two: Loras 8, Coe College 7
 
Much like game one, Loras (17-11, 4-4) got on the board first in the bottom of the second frame with a solo home run, this time off the bat of Dana Skorich. Skorich wasn't done hitting homers and hit her second solo shot of the game in the fourth to give Loras a 2-1 lead. In the fifth frame, the Duhawks added three runs to their total thanks to an RBI double from Franklin, an RBI base hit from Henning, and a wild pitch by Coe. 
 
Vodicka answered the three-run Duhawk inning with a three-run home run of her own to cut the Loras lead to two (6-4). The Kohawks (10-18, 1-3) weren't done scoring though and added two more runs to their total in the frame.
 
Trailing 7-6 going into their last at-bats, Loras put together their best rally of the day. After two early strikeouts by the Purple and Gold, Steger, Skorich, and Alyson Krogman drew three straight walks to load the bases for Murphy. The Senior from Oak Lawn, Ill. came through for her team and delivered a two out base hit into right field to score two runs and walk off game two to earn the sweep over Coe College. 
 
Up Next: Loras will make the trip to Lincoln, Neb. to take on the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves. First pitch of the doubleheader Is scheduled for 1 p.m. with game two to follow.
