DUBUQUE, Iowa – Five Loras College baseball players were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Seniors
Max McCallum and
Austin Sheldon, along with juniors
Jackson Cullen,
Alex Sandoval and
Cody Sunny, were named to the All-District team. McCallum earned the honor for the third time, while Sheldon and Sunny received it for the second time. Cullen and Sandoval were first-time selections.
The five Duhawks were among 27 student-athletes from the American Rivers Conference selected to the All-District team. Loras tied with Buena Vista for the most honorees in the conference, with five each.
To be eligible for Academic All-District, student-athletes must compete in at least 90% of their team's games or start in at least 66%. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or logged 35 innings. All nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be at least sophomores both academically and athletically.
The 2024 Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the field. Academic All-America first, second and third teams will be announced Tuesday, July 1.
