DULUTH, Minn. – The Loras College men's soccer team opened its 2025 season with a 0-0 draw against the Saints of St. Scholastica Friday afternoon.
Defense set the tone in the first half as chances were limited on both sides. Loras (0-0-1) produced three shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes, while the Saints managed just one shot that failed to reach the frame.
The Duhawks nearly broke through early in the second half when
Dani Galiana Torres put a shot on target in the 47th minute, but St. Scholastica (0-0-1) goalkeeper Ben Hallberg came up with the save. Loras's best look came midway through the half with back-to-back corner kicks in the 61st minute, but the Saints defense held strong.

Alexander Drexler into two saves in the 83rd and 88th minutes to preserve the shutout.
The Purple and Gold finished with a 16-4 advantage in shots, including nine on goal.
Nathaniel Gerling and Drexler combined for the clean sheet, while Hallberg stopped all nine attempts to earn one for the Saints.
Up next: Loras will travel to River Forest, Ill. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 to take on the Dominican University Stars. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
