RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Loras College men's soccer team rallied for a 1-1 draw against Dominican University on Wednesday evening at West Campus Field.
After a scoreless first half, Dominican (0-1-1) struck in the 68th minute when Tristen Banquil found the back of the net. The lead didn't last long, as Loras (0-0-2) answered less than three minutes later when Max Stalenczyk headed in the equalizer off a corner kick from
Julian Lopez.
Both teams finished with 11 shots, but the Duhawks held a 7-4 edge in shots on target.
Sep Heerkens and
Joseph Sorce each recorded two shots on goal, while
Cole Bridson,
Charlie Sieg and Stalenczyk also forced saves.
In goal,
Alexander Drexler and
Nathaniel Gerling combined for three saves for Loras. Dominican's tandem of Cody Leyba and Dominik Tyka turned away six shots.
Up next: Loras returns home Saturday, Sept. 6 to host Aurora University in its home opener at the Rock Bowl. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
