MEQUON, Wis. – The Loras College men's soccer team scored five unanswered goals to earn its first victory of the season, defeating Concordia University Wisconsin 5-1 on Wednesday at Fitting Field.
The Falcons (1-2-1) jumped ahead in the 13th minute when Mateo Nabben converted off a pass from Ronan Kessler. Loras (1-0-3) evened the score in the 31st minute as
Kael Pacaro netted his second goal of the year, assisted by
Sep Heerkens. Seven minutes later, freshman
Dominic Scandariato recorded his first collegiate goal on a setup from
Nicolas Chavarria to give the Duhawks a 2-1 halftime lead.
Heerkens took command in the second half, scoring twice in a three-minute span. In the 60th minute, he buried a cross from
Dani Galiana Torres into the upper left corner, then added a header off a
Julian Lopez corner kick in the 63rd to make it 4-1.
Liam Klossner capped the scoring in the 89th minute with his first career goal, assisted by
Marc Anthony Carreon.
Loras outshot Concordia 23-8, including 12 on frame. Goalkeeper
Alexander Drexler collected five first-half saves before
Jon Arnar 'Eagle' Hjalmarsson finished the match in net. Concordia's Connor Fitch tallied seven saves before being replaced by Logan Montgomery in the 70th minute.
