DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Loras College men's soccer team delivered a dominant showing Sunday afternoon, rolling past Kalamazoo 4-0 at the Rock Bowl to remain unbeaten on the year.
Loras (3-0-3) dictated play from start to finish, controlling possession and creating a steady stream of chances. The Duhawks outshot Kalamazoo (2-4-0) by a commanding 29-6 margin, with 12 attempts on frame compared to the Hornets four.
Momentum came quickly in the first half. In the 17th minute,
Julian Lopez connected with
Cole Bridson, who slotted home the opener. Moments later, Loras struck again when
Dani Galiana Torres buried a penalty kick to double the lead less than a minute after Bridson's goal.
The Duhawks carried that energy into the second half. Galiana Torres added his second goal of the day in the 59th minute, once again finishing a chance set up by Lopez, before freshman
Lance Grandgeorge secured his first collegiate goal in the 78th minute from the penalty spot to close out the scoring.
Goalkeeper
Alexander Drexler anchored the back line with four saves, notching his second straight shutout and third of the season.
Up next: The Purple and Gold will look to keep its momentum rolling when it returns to action Friday, Sept. 19, hosting Carthage College at 7 p.m.
