BELOIT, Wis. – The Loras College women's volleyball team took down the Beloit College Buccaneers in straight sets on Tuesday evening inside the Flood Arena Sports Center.
The Duhawks broke the only tie at 11-11 with a kill from
Patrycja Jarzabek. Loras (4-7) closed out the opening set on a 13-6 run to take the set by a score of 25-17.
The Purple and Gold erased a five-point deficit (22-17) late in the second set by rattling off seven consecutive points to hold a 24-22 advantage over Beloit (2-5). An
Elaina Schroeder kill sealed the 25-23 set two win for the Duhawks.
After some back-and-forth play to start the third set, Loras put itself in front for the final time (6-5) following a kill from Schroeder. The Duhawks secured the 25-15 set three win to complete the sweep after an
Autumn Finch kill and a well-timed setting error by the Buccaneers.
Jarzabek led the way for the Purple and Gold, putting down nine kills and hitting .400 percent on the night.
Allie Burke followed closely behind with eight kills, while
Emily Mohr and
Alyssa Daughenbaugh dished out 19 and 15 assists respectively. As a team, Loras hit .232, which featured 39 kills and 13 errors in 112 attempts.
