DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras struck just before halftime and added two more goals in the second half to secure a 3-1 win over University of Wisconsin–Platteville at the Rock Bowl on Wednesday night.
Joseph Sorce opened the scoring in the 41st minute, finishing off a long throw from
Nico Garcia to give the Duhawks the edge before halftime. Loras (5-0-3) doubled its lead early in the second half when
Dani Galiana Torres converted a setup from
Julian Lopez in the 51st minute.
Galiana Torres struck again in the 60th minute, capitalizing after
Townes Robertson's shot deflected off the post, to push the lead to 3-0.
UW-Platteville (4-2-2) cut into the deficit late, with Zachary Fier finding the back of the net in the 86th minute off a pass from Luke Hogle, but the Duhawks held firm.
Alexander Drexler collected nine saves to pace the Loras defense, as the Duhawks put eight of their 11 shots on target.
Up next: Loras opens American Rivers Conference play Saturday, Sept. 27, on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
