NEW ORLEANS, La. –
Caitlyn Cox of Loras College track and field was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Women's National Athlete of the Week, the organization announced Monday, marking the first such honor of her career.
Cox earned the accolade following her performance at the Bumble Rumble, where she won the weight throw with a season-best mark of 19.53 meters. The throw ranks first in Division III this season by more than six feet.
Cox becomes the sixth female student-athlete in program history to earn USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors, joining Grace Alley, Kassie Parker, Marion Edwards, Terriana Black and Gabby Noland.
