Multiple Personal Records Power Loras at Wartburg Indoor Select

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Loras College men's track and field team opened the weekend with a strong showing at the Wartburg Indoor Select, hosted by Wartburg College on Friday, Feb. 6 through Saturday, Feb. 7.
 
The Duhawk throwers set the tone on Friday. DreAnthony Jackson captured first place in the shot put with a mark of 16.86 meters.
 
In the weight throw, Jackson, Eli Pflipsen and Carter Allen swept the top three positions. Jackson won the event with a personal-best throw of 18.90 meters, moving him to sixth in Division III and second all-time in program history. Pflipsen placed second with a personal-best mark of 17.58 meters, which ranks fourth in program history, while Allen finished third at 17.53 meters.
 
Loras carried its momentum into Saturday's events. Ian Fagan won the 400 meters with a season-best time of 49.80, which ranks ninth all-time in program history. Kam Reynolds added a personal record in the event with a time of 53.49.
 
In the long jump, Liam Kelso recorded a season-best mark of 6.45 meters. Ahmari Meeks-Miller and Andrew Schlemme each added personal records with jumps of 6.23 meters and 5.78 meters, respectively. Tre'jon Igess and Kelso also posted personal-best marks in the triple jump, with Igess clearing 14.04 meters to rank fifth all-time in program history and Kelso reaching 13.21 meters.
 
In the 200 meters, Zeke Irving set a personal-best mark of 22.57, while Reynolds followed with another personal record at 23.07.
 
Gavin Denholm posted a personal-best time of 2:00.47 in the 800 meters. Steve Edwards tied for first place in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.84 meters.
 
Nick Pierro rounded out the weekend with a personal-best throw of 14.47 meters in the weight throw.
 
Up Next: The Duhawks will split between two meets. The varsity squad will compete at the Midwest Elite hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater on Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15, while the remaining athletes will travel to the University of Wisconsin–Platteville for the UWP Invite on Saturday, Feb. 15.
