Cox Sets Meet Record as Loras Posts Multiple Personal Bests

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Loras College women's track and field team competed at the Wartburg Indoor Select hosted by Wartburg College on Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7.
 
Caitlyn Cox led the Duhawks on Friday, capturing the weight throw invitational title with a meet-record mark of 19.48 meters. She also finished third in the shot put invitational, setting a personal best with a throw of 12.48 meters. Audra Gallick contributed a personal-best effort of 11.49 meters in the shot put invitational.
 
The Duhawks carried the momentum into Saturday's competition as Rosie Flynn won the 800 meters in 2:17.36, a time that ranks eighth in program history.
 
Maddie Mucci captured first place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.06 meters, while Julia Klein recorded a season-best leap of 10.58 meters.
 
Katie Flynn finished third in the 400 meters with a personal-record time of 57.34, which ranks fourth in program history. Layla Hughes posted a season-best time of 1:00.75 in the same event.
 
Andelyn Cabalka, Emery Wherry and Rachel Theis each recorded personal records in the 60-meter hurdles. Cabalka placed second in 9.25 seconds, a time that ranks ninth in program history. Wherry finished in 9.61 seconds, and Theis crossed the line in 10.08.
 
Paige Jacobs earned a personal-best time of 5:30.90 in the mile.
 
In the shot put, Bridgette Smith recorded a season-best mark of 11.52 meters, while Lilly Anderson added a personal-best throw of 8.52 meters.
 
Cabalka added another personal record in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.90 meters. Grace Cummins rounded out the day as she posted a personal-best jump of 4.82 meters in the long jump.
 
Up Next: Loras will split between two meets. The varsity squad will compete at the Midwest Elite hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, while the remaining athletes will travel to the University of Wisconsin–Platteville for the UWP Invite on Saturday, Feb. 15.
