BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Members of the Loras College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 in Birmingham, Ala.
Caitlyn Cox highlighted the weekend, capping her final indoor season in dominant fashion with her first national title in the weight throw. Cox earned First Team All-American honors after recording a lifetime-best mark of 21.00 meters on her opening throw of the competition, shattering both the meet record and the Division III record that had stood for 20 years while also setting a new Loras program record.
Keelee Leitzen continued her remarkable first season with the Duhawks, finishing the indoor campaign as a two-time First Team All-American in the 800-meter run and as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team. Leitzen clocked a time of 2:10.33 in the 800 meters.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Katie Flynn, Leitzen, Layla Hughes and Rosie Flynn also secured First Team All-American honors after clocking a time of 3:48.25.
On the men's side, Isaac Bourne led the Duhawks in the 5,000-meter run, finishing fifth with a time of 14:11.72 to earn First Team All-American recognition.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Ian Fagan, Zeke Irving, Casey Tath and Matt Kruse also captured First Team All-American honors after posting a time of 3:16.61.
DreAnthony Jackson represented the Duhawks in the shot put, recording a mark of 15.56 meters.
