NEW ORLEANS, La. – Caitlyn Cox of the Loras College women's track and field team was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year, capping her final indoor season with the Duhawks.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Cox earned the honor following a dominant finish to the season. She claimed the NCAA Division III national title in the weight throw with a first-attempt mark of 21.00 meters, breaking the 20-year-old Division III record, surpassing her own school record, and setting a lifetime best. The performance also secured First Team All-America honors.
Earlier in the season, Cox earned USTFCCCA All-Region recognition, captured her fourth American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) title in the weight throw, and added a conference championship in the shot put to earn All-Conference honors. She was later named the A-R-C Most Valuable Field Performer and was a two-time USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week.
