DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's golf team is set to begin its spring season on March 28, as they travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Spring Invite.
Head coach
Steve Reilly is excited to get to work as the new leader of the Duhawk golf program.
"I can't wait to work and help make them the best players they can be and move the program forward," Reilly said. "Our expectation is to show improvement throughout the course of the year. Control what we can control, play smart golf, eliminate unforced errors, and compete at the highest level we can."
The Duhawks return a mix of returners and freshman to the spring season. One of those returners being senior
Alex Link. Last fall, Link posted a 79.9 18-hole average in 11 rounds, with his best being a 74 at the Wartburg Fall Invite at Prairie Links Golf Course.
Quinn Walsh and
Will Coohey also return for Loras. Reilly will be looking for consistency from these two upperclassmen with experience. Walsh carried a 80.7 fall average, while Coohey had an 18-hole average of 78.7 in 11 rounds.
Freshman Silas Shultz will look to build off a strong fall season that saw him compete in five rounds, averaging 81.6 per 18-holes.
After the opening weekend in Waverly, the Duhawks will travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa for the Iowa Central Spring Invitational on April 10-11, before returning home to host the Loras Spring Invite at The Meadows Golf Club on April 12-13.
