Women Finish Fifth, Men 12th at Home Invite

ASBURY, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's golf teams concluded their home tournament on Monday afternoon at The Meadows Golf Course. The women took home a second place finish, while the men placed 12th.

On the men's side, Silas Schultz led Loras on day one with a three-over round of 75. Nicholas Sullivan followed with an opening round 79 (+7) and Wyatt Hertig followed with an 81 (+9). Will Coohey and Alex Link rounded out the lineup with rounds of 82 (+10) and 87 (+15), respectively.

On day two, Sullivan fired a team-best 75 to finish in 17th place. Schultz capped off a top-10 finish with a five-over round of 77 on day-two to finish in seventh place. Herting and Coohey fired rounds of 78 (+6) on day-two to finish 30th and 36th for the tournament. Link finished the tournament +21, which placed him in 58th place.

For the women, the second-place finish gave them back-to-back top three finishes.

Julia Busch led the Duhawks for the opening round, finishing day one +19. Elish Flynn followed with a round of 94 (+22), while Kathleen Looney fired an opening round of 97 (+25). Ellen Pechan and Autumn Allen both shot opening rounds of 99 (+27). Playing as individuals, Caera Owens and Jaelin Hawkins shot first round scored of 96, and 118, respectively.

On day two, Flynn fired a 84 (+12) to place eight for the tournament. Pechan finished in 10th place after her 86 in round two. Places 12, 13, 14, and 16 all belonged to Duhawks. Busch took home 12th place after a 95 in round two, Looney finished 13th after her 93 on day two, and Allen finished in 14th after her Monday round of 94. Owens took home a 16th place finish with her 101 in round two.


Hawkins finished 28th for the tournament at +94.

Up Next: The men will travel to Decorah, Iowa for the Luther Spring Classic on April 18 and 19, while the women will conclude their spring season at Wartburg on April 25 and 26.
