LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A trio of Loras College softball players have earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors, the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Kaili Henning is earning her second straight All-Region honor. The recently named American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Pitcher of the Year has posted a 15-win season so far, highlighted by a 2.03 ERA. The sophomore from Fort Dodge, Iowa has struck out 156 batters, allowing 59 walks, in 141.1 innings of work, all while holding opponents to a .140 batting average.
Kiya Steger earned All-Region honors for the first time in her career after a stellar sophomore campaign that saw her earn A-R-C first team recognition. Steger led the A-R-C with 10 home runs this year, batted in 51 runs, while batting .371. She set a new single game home run record with three homers against Buena Vista University on May 1.
Ellie Baker continues to make noise as a freshman, bringing home All-Region honors after recently earning All-Conference Honorable Mention status earlier this week. The Norwalk, Iowa native ranks second on the Duhawks with a .384 batting average and has racked up 38 hits on the year. Baker has been a threat on the basepaths all year, stealing a team-high 17 bases in 20 attempts.
Up Next: The Duhawks are set to play No. 4 Trine University on Saturday, May 16, in the regional final. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. with a "if necessary" game to follow at 1:30 p.m.
