Two Duhawks Earn A-R-C Athlete of the Week Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Two Duhawks have earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

From men's track and field, Tre'jon Igess earned A-R-C Male Athlete of the Week and Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors, marking the first weekly awards of his career, following a standout performance at the A-R-C Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Igess also garnered two major postseason honors, being named the A-R-C Men's Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Field Performer. The Belgium, Wis. native captured the conference title in the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters and added a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 14.00 meters to earn all-conference recognition.

Up Next: The Duhawks will travel to Waverly, Iowa, to compete at the Wartburg First Chance Meet on Friday, May 8.

From softball, Kaili Henning has earned back-to-back Pitcher of the Week honors after a historic outing last Friday against Buena Vista University. In game one against the Beavers, Henning threw the third perfect game in program history. The sophomore out of Fort Dodge, Iowa, tossed five innings of no-hit softball, allowed zero walks, while fanning seven. The reining A-R-C Rookie of the Year also added 200 career strikeouts to her resume in the win.

Up Next: Loras will travel to Stevens Point, Wis. to take on UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday, May 5. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
