DUBUQUE, Iowa – Despite a rainy morning at Tucker Tennis Courts, the Loras College women's tennis team secured wins over Lawrence University and Edgewood Universityto open the 2026 fall season.

Despite dropping the No. 1 doubles match, the Duhawks rallied at No. 2 and 3 to take the doubles point before singles play was abandoned due to rain.
The freshman duo of
Zoe Strunz and
Scarlett Hay tied the doubles match at one with a 6-3 victory over Arisa McCullough and Madelena Priest.
Noor Kassas and
Zara Stoltzfus secured the doubles point, defeating Sky Shinohara and Tess McGlenn, 6-4, at No. 2.
Loras 4, Edgewood University 3
After the rain clouds parted, the Duhawks grabbed an exciting 4-3 win over the Eagles to secure a 2-0 day.
Just like doubles in the morning, Loras had to rally in the final two matches to take the doubles point.
Megan Covelli and
Gemma Zeckser secured a 6-3 win at No. 3, before the duo of
Brooke Burger and
Saydie Roling downed Hattie Plenty and Sophia Parret, 7-5, at No. 1 to secure the point.
In singles play,
Mary Breitbach was the first Duhawk on the board with her 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1. After dropping the match at No. 2, Roling and Kassas got Loras back on track. Roling took down Isabella Kowalak 6-2, 7-5, while Kassas was a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 winner over Kaitlyn Narkis at No. 3.
After Edgewood grabbed the point at No. 5, Burger's win at No. 6 secured the win over the Eagles.
Up Next: Loras will return home to face off against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Match time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
