DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Saint Mary's University of Minnesota on Thursday evening inside the Rock Bowl.
Loras wasted little time taking control of the match, until
Joseph Sorce broke through at the 6:40 mark, scoring his second goal of the season off an assist from
Sep Heerkens to give the Duhawks a 1-0 advantage. Five minutes later Heerkens found the back of the net himself, finishing an assist from
Ethan Barsch to double the Loras lead.
While the offense generated chances, the Loras defense kept Saint Mary's quiet. The Duhawks limited the Cardinals to just three total shots and one shot on goal over 90 minutes.
Loras finished the night with a 21-3 advantage in shots, an 8-1 edge in shots on goal and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Alex Drexler played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded one save to earn the shutout.
