DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team dropped a pair of home matches Saturday at the Tucker Tennis Courts, falling 7-0 to Coe College before losing 6-1 to Illinois College later in the day.
Loras struggled to find momentum against Coe, as the Kohawks swept all three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests in straight sets.
The Duhawks responded with a stronger showing against Illinois College, particularly in doubles play.
Mary Breitbach and
Brooke Burger earned a 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 1 doubles, while
Megan Covelli and
Gemma Zeckser picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 3 to secure the doubles point for Loras.
Illinois College answered by winning all six singles matches to secure the 6-1 victory. Breitbach and
Clara LeConte each pushed their matches to deciding tiebreaks, with Breitbach falling 10-6 and LeConte dropping a 10-8 decision.
