LINCOLN, Neb. - The Loras College women's tennis team turned in a strong performance on the road Friday afternoon, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University, 6-1, at the LSF Sports Complex.
The Duhawks claimed the doubles point before winning five of six singles matches.
Saydie Roling and Clara LeConte cruised to a 6-1 victory over Sylvia Kamradt and Elizabeth Routh, while Megan Covelli and Gemma Zeckser matched that score with a 6-1 win against Vivian Dao and Jada Nguyen. Nebraska Wesleyan's Kylie Engelsman and Madison Marsh earned a 6-4 victory over Mary Breitbach and Brooke Burger, but the Duhawks' two wins were enough to secure the doubles point.
The Duhawks carried that momentum into singles play, where four of their five victories came in convincing straight-set fashion. Breitbach defeated Engelsman 6-2, 6-0, while Covelli picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Routh. Burger surrendered just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Dao, and LeConte turned in a dominant 6-0, 6-0 performance against Nguyen.
Noor Kassas added another straight-set victory for Loras, battling past Kamradt 6-4, 6-3. Nebraska Wesleyan's lone singles point came from Marsh, who defeated Roling 6-1, 6-2.
With five singles victories and the doubles point, Loras closed out the afternoon with a 6-1 conference road win over the Prairie Wolves.
Up Next: Loras will travel to Storm Lake, Iowa to take on Buena Vista University on Sept. 19. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
