DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College women's tennis put together a dominant performance against Buena Vista University Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Beavers 7-0.
The Duhawks captured all three doubles matches before winning each of the six singles contests to complete the shutout.
Mary Breithach and Brooke Burger rolled to a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Saydie Roling and Clara LeConte followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2. Scarlett Hay and Halia Christensen completed the doubles sweep with a hard-fought 7-5 victory at the No. 3 position.
The Duhawks carried that momentum into singles, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Breithach cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1, while Roling earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2. Megan Covelli took care of business at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Noor Kassas added another shutout for Loras at No. 4, winning 6-0, 6-0, and Zariana Stoltzfus earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5.
The closest singles match came at No. 6, where Gemma Zeckser battled Charlie Rayford. Zeckser took a tight opening set, 7-6, before closing out the match with a 6-0 second-set victory.
Up Next: The Duhawks will travel to the University of Dubuque on Sept. 23 to take on the Spartans. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
