WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Loras College men's soccer team was unable to overcome a pair of UW-Whitewater goals Wednesday night, falling 2-0 at Robert W. Fiskum Field.
The Warhawks opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Luke Konrad found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Hayden Saul and Mason Diercks picked up assists on the play to give UW-Whitewater an early 1-0 advantage.
The Duhawks came out of halftime looking for an equalizer and earned five corner kicks in the second half. Loras generated five more shots, but the Warhawks held the Purple and Gold off the scoreboard.
UW-Whitewater added an insurance goal in the 80th minute when Tyler Chrisman scored his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Saul, extending the Warhawk lead to 2-0.
Alexander Drexler kept Loras within striking distance throughout the match, finishing with six saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Bennett led the Duhawks with two shots on goal, while
Zack Liddell and
Christopher Hastert each recorded two total shots.
UW-Whitewater finished with a 14-11 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. Loras, however, generated more corner-kick opportunities, finishing with five compared to three for the Warhawks.
