Kutsch Notches 100th Career Goal in MWLC Opener

Box Score

MEQUON, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - Coming off their first win of the season, the Loras College Women's Lacrosse team opened Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play on Sunday. Junior Kaitlyn Kutsch found the back of the net late in the second half, recording her 100th career goal in the Duhawk 19-2 loss to Concordia-Wisconsin.

Behind from the get go, the Duhawks (1-3, 0-1) were forced to play catch up. The Falcons (2-3, 1-0) broke the game open with back-to-back goals in the opening minute before pushing their lead to 3-0 moments later.

With her team trailing, freshman Sarah Hanson challenged her defender. Wrapping the crease, Hanson separated from her defender and slipped a shot past the keeper to bring the Duhawks within two.

Missed opportunities on attack kept the Duhawks off the scoreboard for the next 46 minutes as the Falcons distanced themselves.

Trailing 17-2, Kutsch earned a free position opportunity on a drive towards the net. Without hesitation, Kutsch blasted a shot from the line, for her program-record 100th goal.

The Falcons added two more goals in the final 10 minutes, as Loras' attack sputtered, eventually falling 19-2.
