MONMOUTH, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras Track & Field program continued its season on Saturday at the Midwest Invite, hosted by Monmouth College. While no team scores were kept, the Duhawks presented a convincing case as a top team, bringing home nine victories and another six top-two finishes.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Zach Frey, an All-American in 2015, finished first in the 600m with a time of 1:21.42 setting a new career best by .25 seconds ... Frey now sits fifth all-time in Loras history
- Freshman Jack Carroll won the 800m dash with a time of 1:59.27.
- Ben Hedges posted the top time in the 5k, finishing in 16:18.68 ... Hedges smashed his previous career best of 16:32.32 set last season at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
- In the high jump, Dan Vatch secured a tie for first place with a jump of 1.84m ... Vatch just missed his career high of 1.86m which he set in 2015.
- In his first year as a member of the track program, junior Zach Minch finished fifth in the 60m dash ... His time of 7.20 in preliminaries places him fifth all-time in Loras history
- Sophomore Gerrand Moody finished second in the 60m hurdles and improved his all-time best by .02 seconds and holds on to his place in Loras history at third all-time
- Returning national qualifier Elizabeth Brandenburg finished first in both the 60m hurdles (9.32) and the pole vault (3.56m) ... Her best career time in the 60m hurdles is 8.82 and career best in the pole vault is 3.66m
- Brandenburg owns the Loras all-time record in the 60m hurdles, set last year at the UW-Platteville Last Chance Meet ... She sits second all-time in the pole vault behind Whitney Calvert's mark of 3.75m
- The 4x400 relay team of freshman Alicia Serres, sophomore Emily Ney, junior Alexis Hanson and junior Rachel Kilburg posted a time of 4:08.30 which secured a first place finish and was seven seconds faster than the second place team.
- Hanson and Serres also finished first and second respectively in the 400m final with times of 1:01.06 and 1:01.80, respecitvely ... Hanson's career best in the event came at last year's IIAC Indoor Championships with a time of 59.77.
- Freshman Audrey Miller claimed the top spot in the 3000m run with a time of 10:34.77 ... Miller's time is eighth all-time in Loras history
- Hooks' time in the 60m hurdles was a personal best by .01, which was previous set two years ago at the Cornell Invitational

Loras will make their way to Florida for their annual training trip. The next meet for the Duhawks will be on Feb. 6, when Loras heads to Bloomington, Ill. for the Division III Keck Invitational.
