Strong Performances Power Loras at Dutch Weather Saver Invitational

PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College women's track and field team saw success across multiple events Thursday at the Dutch Weather Saver Invitational, turning in top finishes and a collection of personal-best efforts.

Katie Flynn paced the Duhawks in the sprints, recording personal-best times in both the 100 meters (12.67) and 200 meters (23.88), while Bryn Meyer added a personal-best 12.61 in the 100. Abby Pierce led the way in the hurdles with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best 1:06.03, and Savannah Davis posted a personal-best 1:00.80 in the 400 meters. Emmy Hughes also added a personal-best effort in the 400 with a time of 1:08.66.

In the middle-distance events, Rosie Flynn placed second in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:11.88, and Natalia Saucedo followed with a time of 2:42.64. The 1,500 meters saw three more personal-best performances from Mila Grothus (5:20.22), Olivia Carroll (5:29.12) and Mary Jo Fischer (5:36.55).

The throws group delivered two event wins, as Caitlyn Cox won the hammer throw with a mark of 56.38 meters and Abby Horsfall took first in the discus at 37.83 meters. Bridgette Smith recorded personal bests in both the hammer throw (41.16 meters) and shot put (11.66 meters), while Lilly Anderson added personal-best marks in the discus (29.44 meters) and hammer (36.48 meters). Zariah Jones capped the throws performances with a personal-best 28.36 meters in the hammer.

Maddie Mucci added a win for Loras in the field events, taking first in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 11.05 meters. In the high jump, Julia Klein finished first with a season-best clearance of 1.60 meters, while Grace Cummins also posted a season-best at 1.57 meters.
