STORM LAKE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras track and field program competed at the 2016 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships over the weekend, with the women finishing in second place and the men finishing fourth. A number of individuals on both teams had remarkable weekends, resulting in 33 student-athletes recording personal bests.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Bree Powers finished second in the 60m dash with a final time of 7.90, setting a new personal record in the process.
- Freshman Allie Serres recorded a personal best of 2:19.40 the 800m, finishing third.
- Freshman Audrey Miller made a statement in her first appearance at the IIAC Indoor Championship, taking first in the 5000m with a time of 19:36.81.
- Sophomore Kelly Minear accompanied Miller on the podium with a second place finish in the 5000m with her time of 19:48.17.
- Juniors Elizabeth Brandenburg and Audrey Hooks finished with a 1-2Â punch in the 60m hurdles. Brandenburg took first with a finals time of 8.95 while Hooks finished with a time of 9.05.
- Loras' Women's 4x200 Relay consisting of Powers, junior Alexis Hanson, and sophomores Alyssa Simon and Rachel Kilburg, took third, finishing with a time of 1:45.27.
- Loras' Womens' 4x400 Relay featuring Powers, Kilburg, Simon and sophomore Devin Hasson posted a time of 4:04.12, good for a thrid place finish.
- The women's 4x800 Relay took first with a final time of 9:45.00 thanks to the efforts of Serres, freshmen Liz Venezio and Kemunto Ondande as well as Hanson.
- The Women's Distance Medley of Ondande, Hasson, Serres and Venezio finished thrid with a time of 12:50.86.
- Junior Elizabeth Brandenburg placed herself on top of the podium in the pole vault thanks to a first place finish, clearing 3.76m, which went down as a personal best.
- Junior Amy Gladis joined her on the podium with a third place finish, vaulting 3.16m.
- Junior Brandon Gradoville finished second overall in the 400, setting a new PR with his time of 50.21. Senior Stedman Foster finished one spot behind Gradoville with his time of 50.75.
- Senior Zach Frey took first in the 800m. His time of 1:52.30 ranks third nationally and set a conference record.
- Sophmore Mason Tope finished third in the 5000m with a personal best time of 15:10.93.
- Sophomore Gerrand Moody finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.49.
- The men's 4x400, which consisted of Gradoville, senior Jake Brock, Foster and Frey, took first with a time of 3:22.06.
- The Men's Distance Medley finished second with a time of 10:22.89 thanks to the efforts of junior O'Brien Nugent, Frey, sophomore Kylian Lally and freshman Jack Carroll.
- Senior Keontae Neely finished third in the Triple Jump with his mark of 13.55m.
- As a team, the women finished in second place with 119 points.
- The men took fourth as team with 99 points.
UP NEXT
Select individuals will travel next weekend to compete for a place at the 2016 NCAA Division Indoor Track and Field Championships. Among the locations for next week include UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point.
