BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras track and field program competed at the Division III Keck Invite on Saturday, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. The men's team posted 10 top-five finishes, totaling 86 points and a second place finish. The women's team placed fifth with 46 points and added three top-five finishes.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Bree Powers finished fifth in the 60m Dash, posting a career-best time of 8.03. Her previous best came two weeks ago at the Midwest Invite (8.14)
- Freshman Allie Serres posted a person best in the 800m Run with her time of 2:22.40, finishing fifth in the heat.
- Junior Emily Day posted a career-best time in the 3000m Run, finishing ninth with a time of 11:14.34.
- Loras' 4x400 Relay team posted a season-best time, finishing fourth with their time of 4:05.10. Team consisted of junior Alexis Hanson, Serres, Powers and sophomore Emily Ney.
- Junior Elizabeth Brandenburg smashed her indoor personal best in the pole vault with a height of of 3.74m. Her mark ranks 11th in Division III and is .06m off her overall best of 3.80m set at the 2015 NCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships.
- Freshman Taylor Schaefers set a personal best in the long jump, reaching a distance of 4.34m, edging her previous mark of 4.31m.
- Junior Sofia Lyskanowski set a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 10.27m. Her previous top mark came in the season opener in the Duhawk/Spartan Dual with a distance of 10.09m.
- Freshman Savannah Nesvik topped her previous best in the weight throw, set previously at the Midwest Invite. On Saturday, Nesvik reached a distance of 12.09m, besting her previous mark by .46m.
- Junior Zach Minch placed sixth in the 60m Dash finals, checking in with a time of 7.25.
- Senior Nick Ball finished fifth in the 200m Dash with his time of 23.22.
- Senior Brandon Gradoville placed third in the 400m Dash, posting a time of 51.49.
- Senior Zach Frey posted a second place finish in the 800m Run with his time of 1:54.45. Frey's best time came at the 2015 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships when he ran it in 1:53.60. His time ranks ninth in Division III.
- Junior Brien Nugent and sophomore Kylian Lally both recorded personal bests in the 800m, with Nugent posting a time of 2:00.27 and Lally finishing with a time of 2:01.20.
- Freshman Jack Carroll won the 1 mile and was rewarded with a personal best, shaving nearly 13 seconds off his previous time of 4:36.10, finishing in 4:23.85.
- Freshman Nathan Kimbrell's time in the 1 mile also served as a personal best, clocking in at 4:31.20, edging his prior top time of 4:39.48.
- After earning All-American honors in the fall at the 2015 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, sophomore Mason Tope won the 5000m Run in 15:22.29.
- Senior JP Sevcik finished second in the 5000m, cutting 12 seconds off his previous best time, finishing in 15:35.12.
- Sophomore Gerrand Moody enjoyed a career day in the 60m Hurdles, posting the top time in both the preliminaries and finals. In the prelims, Moody clipped his previous best with a time of 8.53 before topping that mark with his time in the finals of 8.43. His finals' time puts Moody at 31st overall in Division III and sets a Loras all-time record, which was previously held by Tim Derr and set at NCAA Qualifier meet in 2013.
- Loras' 4x400 Relay recorded a season best time, finishing second in 3:27.26. The team included Gradoville, Lally, senior Jake Brock and Frey.
- Freshman Garrett Roberson and senior Dan Vatch both cleared 1.79m in the High Jump, placing fourth and fifth respectively.
- Sophomore Hunter Dunlap posted a sixth-place finish in the Pole Vault, reaching a height of 4.04m. Sophomore Nick Dreska checked in right behind Dunlap with his height of 3.74m.
- Senior Keontae Neely placed third in the Long Jump with his mark of 6.27m. Neely followed up with a fourth-place finish in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.46m.
- Junior Zach Soer added a personal best in the Shot Put, clipping his previous best mark of 12.64m with his distance of 12.73m, finishing in ninth place.
- As a team, Loras' women finished fifth with a team score of 46 points.
- Loras' men's team earned a second place finish with 86 team points.
