MINNEAPOLIS (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team concluded its time in Minnesota with a split against Crown on Saturday morning. A four-run third inning in game one helped push the Duhawks in front on their way to a 7-1 win. In game two, Crown kept the Loras bats quiet, limiting the Duhawks to three hits, two of which came in the final two innings.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- The offense picked up right where it left off on Saturday, with plenty of timely hitting and efficient baserunning.
- Loras jumped out to a 5-0 lead three innings into game one, including a four-run third inning, highlighted by a RBI single from sophomore Regan Wolverton and a RBI double from freshman Hannah Towns.
- Towns added a second RBI double in the fifth to extend the Duhawk lead to six.
- On the mound, senior Makaila Haase earned her second win of the season in as many days, throwing four innings of three hit ball. Haase conceded four walks, but were scattered throughout the day.
- Haase induced eight ground ball outs, a clear indication of her efficiency and accuracy from the rubber.
- Sophomore Emma Corkill earned her first save of the year, throwing three innings of relief with five strikeouts and allowing one earned run.
- In game two, Loras' offense finally cooled off, as Crown's lefty Cearra Dulaney held the Duhawks to three hits over seven innings.
- After plating two runs in the second inning on a two-RBI single by Amanda Morrison, the Storm added two more runs in the fourth off a throwing error and later a RBI double.
- Loras finally got its offense rolling in the sixth inning after freshman Megan Larson lined into a double play, scoring freshman Nicole Majewski in the process.
- Down to their final three outs, Wolverton led off the seventh with a walk, followed by a single by sophomore Bria Lenten.
- Haase drove in the Duhawks' third run of the day on a groundout back to the pitcher, which moved Lenten into scoring position.
- A fly out to center field ended the rally and handed Loras its first loss of the season.

Hannah Towns | The freshman continued her torching start to her collegiate campaign, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two doubles in game one. In her first four games, Towns is hitting .538 with eight RBIs and four extra-base hits.
Makaila Haase | After earning her second win of the season, Haase went 1-for-3 in game two, driving in Loras' second run of the game in the top of the seventh inning. The senior is hitting .400 with a double and a RBI through her first four games.
UP NEXTLoras will spend the next week and a half preparing for its annual spring trip. The Duhawks head to sunny Florida where they will play 10 games over a five-day stretch, beginning on March 19.
