Track and Field Post Top Finishes at Norse Relays

DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras track and field program competed at the Norse Relays on Saturday with the men's team finishing second with 113 points and the women's team finishing in third with 118 points. On the women's side, Loras claimed six victories, including three relay wins, while the men's side collected four victories, including two relay wins.

LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Audrey Hooks beat out the 18-competitor field in the 100m Hurdles, winning with her time of 15.11, .85 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
  • In the 400m Hurdles, Loras scored nine team points thanks to a second place finish from sophomore Devin Hasson (1:09.53) and a fifth place finish from freshman Taylor Schaefers (1:14.13).
  • The Duhawks finished third in the 4x100 Relay with the team of sophomore Rachel Kilburg and freshmen Clarie Martin, Celia Da Silva and Schaefers. Their time of 53.05 came in under two seconds behind the winners.
  • Loras took home top honors in the 4x400 Relay, finishing in 4:07.48. Senior Bree Powers ran the anchor in front of sophomores Kilburg, Sarah Schoel and Alyssa Simon.
  • The Duhawks added another relay win in the 4x800, led by a trio of freshmen in Kemunto Ondande, Audrey Miller and Allie Serres, and were anchored by junior Alexis Hanson, finishing in 9:50.24.
  • In the 4x1600 Relay, the Loras group of junior Emily Day and sophomores Kelly Minear, Carrie Piper and Sydney Brokaw took fourth with their time of 23:02.58.
  • The third relay win of the day in the 1600 Sprint Medley, led by Powers, Simon, Hanson and Serres, finished in 4:17.45.
  • Sophomore Allison Ewald took home a fourth place finish in the High Jump, tying her personal best mark of 1.35m.
  • Despite coming in under her previous best, junior Elizabeth Brandenburg still managed to win the Pole Vault for the second time this outdoor season, clearing 3.56m, which set a stadium record and bested the 2015 winner's mark.
  • Joining Brandenburg in the top-five was junior Amy Gladis and freshman Taylor Dooley. Gladis' mark of 3.20m was good for second place and Dooley came in fifth with her mark of 2.60m.
  • Freshman Anna Hedges earned a fourth place finish in the Hammer Throw with personal best of 40.61m.
  • The women's team finished in third place with 118 team points.
  • On the men's side, sophomore Gerrand Moody collected a first place finish in the 110m Hurdles, finishing in 15.54.
  • Loras benefited from a pair of top-five finishes in the 400m Hurdles, with sophomore Andrew O'Neill placing second with his time of 58.64. Joining O'Neill in the top-five was senior Jake Brock and his fifth place finish (1:00.37).
  • The men's 4x200 Relay finished in third with their time of 1:32.01. The team was led by senior Nick Ball off the gun, junior Brandon Gradoville, sophomore Evan Gradoville and anchored by senior Stedman Foster.
  • In the 4x400 Relay, Loras took second and third place with its 'A' and 'B' squad. Finishing second was Foster, senior Jake Brock, Evan Gradoville and Brandon Gradoville with their time of 3:26.83. Coming in third with a time of 3:33.61 was sophomore Kylian Lally, Nick Ball, freshman Anakin Hall and junior Nathan Kimbrell.
  • The Duhawks took second in the 4x800 Relay with a time of 8:08.90 and a team of Lally, Kimbrell, junior Brien Nugent and senior Sam Whan.
  • Loras claimed top honors in the 4x1600 Relay with the crew of sophomore Mason Tope, freshman Jack Carroll, Nugent and Whan. Their time of 17:57.76 was nearly 15 seconds faster than the second place team.
  • In the 1600 Sprint Medley, the Duhawks edged out Coe for first place, setting a stadium record with a time of 3:29.99. Loras' team consisted of Nick Ball, Brandon Gradoville, Foster and senior Zach Frey.
  • The Duhawks placed a pair in the top-five of the High Jump, with senior Keontae Neely placing second with his height of 1.80m and fellow senior Dan Vatch claiming fourth with his height of 1.75m.
  • Neely added a first place finish in the Triple Jump, leaping to a distance of 13.17m. He was joined in the top-five by sophomore Jordan Stiefel and his PR of 11.54m.
  • Brock took fourth in the Javelin with his toss of 50.21m.
  • The men's team finished second with 113 team points.

Loras will compete at the UW-Platteville Invitational next Saturday in Platteville, Wis.
