DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras track and field program shined in its lone home meet of the 2016 outdoor season on Friday evening at the Dr. Tucker Open. In total, the Duhawks set 52 personal bests on the night between the men's and women's programs.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Bree Powers took advantage of the home crowd on Friday and opened with a PR in the 100m, finishing in first place with her time of 12.38. Due to her success in other events, Powers did not run in the finals.
- Sophomore Alyssa Simon earned a fourth place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.65.
- Loras went 1-2-3 in the 200m, led by Powers and her time of 24.79. Behind Powers was Simon and her time of 25.98. Sophomore Rachel Kilburg came in third, posting a time of 26.42.
- The Duhawks continued their dominance in the sprints with a win in the 400m thanks to junior Alexis Hanson. The New Glarus, Wis. native finished .7 ahead of second place, finishing in 57.99.
- Another sprint race equaled another victory for Loras, this time in the 800m. Freshman Allie Serres led the pack in 2:20.10 while fellow freshman Kemunto Ondande took second with her time of 2:24.37.
- Ondande returned to the track for the 1500m and earned herself a third place finish with a time of 4:52.12. Coming just behind Ondande was freshman Audrey Miller and her time of 4:58.92. Both times were personal bests.
- Junior Audrey Hooks moved into 13th in Division III with her time of 14.44 in the 100m Hurdles. After qualifying first in the preliminaries, Hooks returned to win the finals.
- Junior Devin Hasson took fourth in the 400m Hurdles with her time of 1:07.61.
- The women's team swept the relays on the night, winning both the 4x100 and 4x400.
- Loras' 4x100 team, consisting of Powers, Hanson, Kilburg and Simon, came in first with their time of 48.28. The Duhawks rank 37th in Division III.
- In the 4x400, Powers, Kilburg, Serres and Hanson won with a time of 3:56.82, which ranks 27th in Division III.
- Junior Elizabeth Brandenbug won the Pole Vault with a height of 3.76m. Sophomore Amy Gladis tied for second with her height of 3.15m.
- In the Long Jump, it was freshman Taylor Schaefers finishing in fourth with a PR of 4.84m. Sophomore Sarah Schoel came in fifth with her height of 4.74m.
- Freshman Anna Hedges earned a fourth place finish in the Shot Put with a PR distance of 12.16m.
- Simon converted from the track to the field and took home a third place finish in the Javelin with a PR of 31.78m.
- On the men's side, senior Nick Ball took fifth in the 100m Prelims with a time of 11.21. In the finals, Ball cut .1 off his time to finish third with a final time of 11.11.
- Ball added a second top-five finish, setting a PR in the 200m, finishing in 22.00.
- Loras grabbed a pair of top-five finishes in the 400m, led by senior Brandon Gradoville and his PR time of 48.54. Senior Stedman Foster added a PR of his own with a time of 49.01.
- In the 800m, the Duhawks took four of the top-five spots, led by sophomore Kyllian Lally and his time of 1:55.71. Joining Lally in the top-five were senior Zach Frey (1:56.13), junior Brien Nugent (1:59.46) and senior Matt Marter (1:59.58).
- Senior Sam Whan led the pack in the 1500 with a time of 4:00.27. Nugent took second with a PR time of 4:01.03. Freshman Jack Carroll took home third place with his time of 4:03.59.
- Sophomore Andrew O'Neill set a PR in the 110m Hurdles, finishing fourth in finals, just ahead of sophomore Gerrand Moody, who finished in 15.49.
- Senior Jake Brock set a PR in the 400m Hurdles, finishing second in 54.75.
- Sophomore Jake Till won the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing in 10:44.63.
- Loras' 4x100 Relay team of Nick Ball, Brandon Gradovillle, Moody and Foster finished third with a time of 42.42.
- In the 4x400 Relay, the Duhawks took home top honors with a time of 3:17.03 and a team of Foster, Brock, Brandon Gradoville and Lally.
- On his senior night, Keontae Neely set a PR in the High Jump with his mark of 1.95m. Fellow seniors Dan Vatch and Greg Cox joined Neely in the top five with their marks of 1.75m.
- Sophomore Hunter Dunlap took second in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.21m. Sophomore Nick Dreska came in third with his height of 4.06m.
- In the Long Jump, Neely grabbed a third place finish with his distance of 6.51m. Freshman Martin Rodriguez came in fifth at 6.06m.
- Neely also added a third place finish in the Triple Jump with a PR mark of 13.40m.
- Sophomore Zach Soer took second in the Hammer Throw with his mark of 49.43m.
- In the Javelin, Brock took first with a distance of 49.64m. Sophomore Andy Reed took second with his distance of 44.85m.

Loras will compete at the 2016 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships next week in Waverly, Iowa.
