PLYMOUTH, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - After seeing their program record seven game win streak come to an end last Sunday, the Loras men's volleyball got back on the right track with a 3-0 win over Concordia Chicago and a 3-1 win over the Lakeland Muskies.
Grant Ooms led the Duhawk efforts with a team high 22 kills over the two matches, six versus Concordia and a career-high 16 against Lakeland.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Loras vs. Concordia Chicago
• After going up by eight points early in the first set, Concordia Chicago rallied to cut the score within three but the Duhawks shut the door on the comeback on their way to a 25-22 first set victory
• Ooms electrified the Duhawk bench with back-to-back service aces in the second set, pushing Loras' lead to 10-4
•
Ian Walsh solidified the second set victory by scoring one of his two service aces of the match
• On the back of
Patrick Hollander's three aces in six serves, the Duhawks went on a tear to the tune of a 16-1 run, giving them an insurmountable lead
• After an error the attack before,
Jonathan Quinn sent home a hammer to give the Duhawks a 25-10 third set victory and the 3-0 match victory
• The Duhawks had four separate players record six kills
Loras vs. Lakeland
• The Duhawks and Muskies traded points for the majority of the first set but after tying the score at 24, Lakeland got the two points needed to claim the first set
• Although the Duhawks faltered early, they found their rhythm en route to a 25-16 second set win
• Loras and Lakeland matched each other to start the third set but a 5-1 run gave the Duhawks a 17-11 lead and forced a Muskie timeout
• The Muskies soon responded with a 6-0 run of their own to narrow the Loras lead to one

Jake Chudzik sent one home to give Loras 24 points and an ensuing service error by Lakeland gave the Duhawks the third set victory

Alfredo Lopez' two service aces sparked an 8-1 run for the Duhawks and gave them their first lead of the third set at 19-18
• Ooms closed out the 8-1 run with a hammer off the Lopez feed to keep Loras perfect on the day.Â
