Mar. 7, 2022 - The Loras College baseball team (7-0, 0-0 A-R-C) took the nation by storm last week as they took down the University of Iowa Hawkeyes (6-5, 0-0 Big Ten) to open their week of non-conference action before traveling to Fulton, Mo. to earn a four-game sweep over the Westminster College Blue Jays (1-11, 0-0 SLIAC), making their way to their seventh-straight win to open the season. After taking down the Hawkeyes in his season debut on the mound, junior pitcher Davis Pasco earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Pitcher of the Week Honors while sophomore designated hitter Daniel Rogers earned Position Player of the Week accolades, driving in nine RBIs in five games on the week.

Pasco, a junior pitcher from Huntley, Ill. earned his first Player of the Week nod of his career after leading the Duhawks to a 3-1 victory over the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday, Mar. 1. On the same day Major League Baseball announced their cancellation of Opening Day games due to the ongoing lockout, Pasco proved that college baseball was alive and well, throwing 6.2 innings of scoreless ball, allowing five runs and fanning three as the Duhawks held the Hawkeyes without a run in their home opener until they scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Rogers, a sophomore designated hitter from Grayslake, Ill. also garnered Player of the Week honors for the first time of his career following a stellar week at the plate for the Duhawks. The returning All-Conference hitter began his week with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate against Iowa, driving in one of the Duhawks' three runs in the game before dominating the Blue Jays from Westminster in a four-game series over the weekend. Against Westminster, Rogers went 7-for-14 and drove in a staggering eight RBIs in the series with five of the eight coming in Sunday's 10-0 victory that saw Rogers go deep with a three-run homerun.

The Duhawks continue non-conference play this week as they head south to Auburndale, Fla. to compete in the RussMat Central Florida Invite. The six-game stretch begins on Wednesday, Mar. 9 as they take on Penn State Abington at 3:00 PM (ET).
