Four School Records Fall for No. 2 Women’s Track & Field at Drake Relays

April 30, 2023

DES MOINES, Iowa (April 30, 2023) – Another stellar showing from the highly-touted and second-ranked Loras College women's track & field team included four school records and a team title in the 4x400-meter relay Division III finals this weekend at the Drake Relays.

The Duhawks ran the eighth-fastest time in the 4x800-meter relay on Thursday to set the table for an impressive weekend as four relay records fell over the next two days. Saturday's 4x400-meter relay team of seniors Marion Edwards, Gabrielle Noland, Stevie Lambe, and Alyssa Pfadenhauer bookended the week with a 3:40.75 time to take championship.

That time eclipsed the school record that the team had set the day before in the preliminary round and rose to third on the all-time Division III list.

Other records fell throughout the week as the 1600-meter sprint medley relay team of juniors Kelly Kohlhof, Brooke Kruse, Pfadenhauer, and freshman Elly Burds got things started with a school-record 4:02.64 on Friday. That was followed by a record in the 4x200-meter relay as sophomore Harmony Creasy, senior Grace Alley, Kohlhof, and Noland ran a 1:40.56.

On Saturday, the distance medley relay team of senior Ellie Osterberger, Creasy, Burds, and graduate student Kassie Parker ran to a runner-up finish overall and became the IOWA Division champions with a school-record time of 11:44.22.

Loras saw other stellar individual performances as well, including a 12.11-meter mark from Creasy in the triple jump that ranks as a career-best and moved her to third this season in Division III. Alley was also third place at the relays in the high jump with a mark of 1.68 meters.

Loras' next action will be on its home track as the Duhawks host the Dr. Tucker Open on Friday, May 5, at the Finnegan Family Track at the Rock Bowl.
