Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa – Loras baseball fell in the series finale to Buena Vista University, 11-3, on Sunday afternoon.
The Duhawks (22-14, overall, 11-9 American Rivers) registered seven hits against the Beavers (26-10, 15-6), but stranded nine on base.
Jackson Cullen led the team at the plate by going 3-for-4, followed by
Jake Olszewski with his 2-for-3 performance.
The Beavers rattled off 15 hits in their 36 at-bats, registering an on base percentage of 1.087.
BVU plated three in the first inning to start the game, following it up with an additional two in the second.
The Duhawks responded with two runs of their own in the fourth, all of which was started by
Cody Sunny's RBI groundout to second base, scoring Cullen from third.
Vince Polizzi followed that up with an RBI single, scoring Rogers, to make it a three score game (5-2).
Buena Vista went on to score six-straight runs over the sixth and seventh innings to take an 11-2 advantage.
The Purple and Gold scored their final run of the day in the ninth inning when
Jake Zeal's RBI groundout paved the way for
Justin Gutierrez to cross home.

Loras returns home for the program's final series of the season beginning Friday, May 3 against Central College. Doubleheader action from Petrakis Park gets underway at 3:30 p.m. with Saturday's regular season finale set to start at 10 a.m.
Friday will also serve as Loras' senior day, as
Daniel Rogers and
Nick DiBenedetto are set to be honored.
