November 10, 2025

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Three Duhawks earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Athlete of the Week honors across two sports, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

For the fourth time this season, the Loras College women's soccer team swept the weekly awards. Mary Clare Bean was named the A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring a back line that recorded shutouts against Simpson College and the University of Dubuque to secure the A-R-C Tournament title. Bean also limited the league's top two goal scorers, including the A-R-C Offensive MVP.

Ivy Wessel earned Offensive Player of the Week after scoring both game-winning goals during the Duhawks' A-R-C tournament run. She netted the lone goal in the 1-0 semifinal win over Simpson and delivered again with three minutes remaining in the 1-0 championship victory over Dubuque. Wessel, a defender, has five goals this season and leads the team with four game-winners.

Up next: The Purple and Gold will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to face North Central College in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament, hosted by Washington University (Mo.). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.

On the volleyball court, Autumn Finch secured the first Offensive A-R-C Player of the Week award of the season for the Duhawks following a standout performance to close the year. The Purple and Gold fell 3-0 to crosstown rival University of Dubuque on Wednesday before splitting a pair of matches at the Augustana Triangular on Saturday. Loras dropped a four-set match to the host but ended its season on a high note with a 3-1 win over Grinnell College. The Marshalltown, Iowa, native posted 33 kills and hit .356 across the three matches, while adding five service aces, 14 digs, and 12 blocks.
