Morgano Earns Defensive MVP as Nine Duhawks Receive A-R-C All-Conference Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nine members of the Loras College women's soccer team earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) All-Conference honors, the league office announced Friday afternoon.

Senior Sierra Morgano headlined the group as she was named the A-R-C Defensive MVP. The Sussex, Wis., native has started every game for the Duhawks this season, leading the team in minutes played (1,441) while adding one assist. This marks Morgano's second career All-Conference selection.

Bella Scesniak, a junior from Hoffman Estates, Ill., earned honorable mention recognition for the second consecutive year. A key part of a defensive unit that has held all but two opponents scoreless, Scesniak has also contributed offensively with one goal and three assists.

Seven Duhawks earned All-Conference honors for the first time in their careers: Mary Clare Bean, Katie Callahan, Emerson Gasmann, Hannah Fedinec, Belle Johnson, Mayte Navejas and Ivy Wessel.

Bean, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native, has anchored the Loras defense, starting all 17 games and logging 1,402 minutes while adding two assists.

Team captain Callahan, a native of Marion, Iowa, has been instrumental to an offense that has outscored opponents 48–3 this season. She has tallied four goals, five assists, and one game-winning goal.

Gasmann leads the team in scoring with eight goals, seven assists and 23 total points. The McHenry, Ill., native has started all 17 games and netted two game-winning goals.

Fedinec, a sophomore from Woodridge, Ill., has been a dominant force in goal with 15 shutouts in 17 games, a 0.18 goals-against average, and a .923 save percentage. She has allowed just three goals all season as the Duhawks rank first nationally in goals-against average (0.176).

Johnson, a senior from Wauconda, Ill., has tallied seven goals, four assists and two game-winners in 1,288 minutes played.

Navejas, a sophomore from Whitewater, Wis., has contributed three goals, four assists and two game-winning goals while starting all 17 matches.

Wessel, a freshman from Rosemount, Minn., has made an immediate impact on the back line and added offensive production with four goals and two assists, including three game-winning goals.

Up next: The Duhawks travel across town to face the University of Dubuque in the A-R-C Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
