Men's Tennis Drops Final Two Matches in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Loras College men's tennis team dropped its final two matches against Ursinus College and Saint Joseph University to conclude the trip to Florida for spring break.

Loras 2, Ursinus 5
In doubles play Diego Mejias and Gage Becker defeated Deniz Finkel and Teddy Snyder in the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-4. Samuel Canas Guerro and Jackson Craig followed suit and defeated Charles DiCicco and Hunter Murray 7-5. Andrew Day and Jack Seda fell short to Devin Carter and Andrei Bogdan 6-7 (1-7). With the two doubles wins the Duhawks headed into singles with the 1-0 lead.

Securing the only win in singles was Henry Condo at the No.6 spot as he took down DiCicco 6-2, 1-6, 10-7. Craig came up short in the five spot to Andrei Bogan 0-6 in both matches. Mejias battled at the No.1 spot but fell to Synder 6-4, 3-6, 3-10. Canas Guerro fell short in the No. 3 spot to Noah Dichter 6-3, 4-6, 4-10. Russell Nour bested Day at the No.4 spot by scores of 1-6, 6-4, 11-13. Rounding out the final match of the day was Becker at the No.2 spot who came up short 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 1-10.

Loras 1, Saint Joseph 6
At No. 1 doubles Mejias and Becker defeated Karol Romer and Marko Karpyuk 6-4. In the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles the Bluejays had the upper hand as both Day and Condo along with Craig and Jackson Seda fell 5-7 and 2-6 respectively. The Duhawks went into singles play down 0-1.

In singles the Duhawks scored the only point by way of Condo who earned the tiebreaker victory over Ryan Boucher 5-7, 6-4 10-7. At the No. 1 spot Mejias fell to Romer 2-6 and 0-6. Becker put up a fight at the No.2 spot but ultimately fell short to Rodrigo Torres 2-6, 6-7(5-7). Canas Guerro was bested by Manuel Hernandez-Plaza 3-6 and 2-6 in the No.3 spot. Day put up a fight at the No.4 spot going 4-6, 6-3, 8-10 to Karpyuk. Craig came up short at the No. 5 spot Jonathan Huot 3-6 and 2-6.
