Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. – The Loras College men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon.
The Duhawks dropped the doubles point after falling in two of three matches. Diego Mejias and
Gage Becker earned the lone doubles victory for Loras, defeating Jacob Balfany and Sam Rademacher 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.
Lucas Healy and
Jackson Craig came up short at No. 2, losing 6-3 to Gavin Nichols and Tyler Blair, while Samuel Canas Guerrero and
Sean Sonoiki dropped a 6-4 match at No. 3.
In singles play,
Andrew Day secured the only point for Loras with a gritty win at No. 6, outlasting Glenn McChristian 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. Mejias nearly added another point at No. 1 but was bested by Balfany in a third-set tiebreak, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-8. At No. 2, Becker fell to Nichols 7-5, 6-2, while Canas Guerrero lost 6-1, 6-1 to Rademacher at No. 3. Sonoiki dropped his match at No. 4 to Blair, 6-3, 6-0, and Healy was defeated 6-2, 7-5 by Ian Armburst at No. 5.
