CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's soccer programs swept this week's American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) weekly awards after strong performances this past week.
For the men,
Sep Heerkens was named A-R-C Offensive Player of the Week and
Gavin Pienkowski earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Heerkens tallied eight points with three goals and two assists, including two goals and both assists in a 5-1 victory over Concordia Wisconsin. He added another goal in a 3-0 win against Bethany Lutheran.
Pienkowski anchored a Duhawk back line that allowed just one goal across three matches while recording two shutouts. He also contributed offensively with a goal in the 3-0 win over Bethany Lutheran.
On the women's side,
Emily Bowe earned Offensive Player of the Week after scoring her first two collegiate goals in a 2-0 upset of No. 16 Carleton College.
Sierra Morgano collected Defensive Player of the Week honors, helping limit Concordia Wisconsin to just one shot while anchoring the back line in the shutout over Carleton.
Up next: The women host the University of California Santa Cruz on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m., while the men welcome Carthage College on Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
