MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Loras College women's track and field team competed at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa on Friday and Saturday, while also sending athletes to the Monmouth Midwest Invitational on Saturday.
Caitlyn Cox highlighted the weekend at the Wieczorek Invitational, breaking her own school record in the premier weight throw section. Cox won the event with a mark of 20.33 meters, a personal best that ranks first in Division III this season and fourth all-time in NCAA D-III history.
Ivy Glendening added another victory for the Duhawks at Iowa, capturing the 800 meters in the college division with a personal best time of 2:21.16.
Katie Flynn and
Rosie Flynn turned in personal best performances in the 400 meters at Iowa. Katie ran 57.99 to rank fifth in program history, while Rosie followed in 58.02, good for sixth all-time.
Keelee Leitzen also competed at the Wieczorek Invitational and continued her strong season in the mile, posting a personal best time of 4:56.67. Her mark ranks sixth nationally in Division III and second all-time in Loras history.
At Monmouth, several Duhawks recorded event victories. The 4x200-meter relay team of
Bryn Meyer,
Layla Hughes,
Emery Wherry and
Abby Pierce won in 1:50.13.
Hunter Jones captured the 3,000 meters in 12:20.96.
Loras also swept three jumping events, with Meyer winning the long jump at 5.24 meters,
Maddie Mucci took the triple jump at 11.25 meters and
Grace Cummins claimed the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters.
Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Waverly, Iowa, to compete at the Friday Knight Lights meet hosted by Wartburg on Friday, Jan. 30.
