DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team went 2-0 in a pair of conference matches on Friday afternoon at the Tucker Tennis Courts with wins over Buena Vista University and Nebraska Wesleyan University.

The Duhawks got off to a hot start in doubles play, taking all three matches. The duo of
Jaimes Palmer and
Dali Martens took down Nick Hiney and Tyler Harger at No. 1 6-3.
Nick Carney and
Hayden Martin followed with a 6-0 win a No. 2, while
Abhyudit Nagar and Samuel Canas Guerrero cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 3 to secure the sweep.
The scoreboard was all Purple in singles play with the Duhawks winning at all six spots.
Gage Becker was the first Duhawk to secure a point with his 6-1, 6-0 win over Harger at No. 1 singles.
Sean Sonoiki followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4, while Carney was a winner at No. 5 6-1, 6-1.
Jackson Craig was the next Duhawk on the board with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Owen Stansberry at No. 6. Palmer and
Andrew Day secured the sweep with wins at No. 2 and 3 to complete the 7-0 sweep over the Beavers.
Loras 4, Nebraska Wesleyan University 3
The second match of the day for Loras came down to the wire with the Duhawks closing the door in singles play.
Doubles play favored the Purple and Gold all day as Loras once again swept all three matches.
Becker and Martin got things started with a decisive 6-2 win at No. 1. Martens and Palmer followed with a 6-3 win over Riley Voss and Gavin Nichols, while Nagar and Canas Guerrero completed the shutout with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Zac Briggs and Ian Armbrust.
NWU rallied in singles play, taking matches at the No. 2 and 4 spots thanks to wins from Nichols and Ashton Rames after Becker took down Voss at the No. 1 position. After splitting the No. 5 position, Martin secured the win with a dramatic 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Zac Briggs at No. 3 to secure the win for the Duhawks.
Up Next: Loras will return to Tucker Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 12, to take on the Kohawks of Coe College. Match time is scheduled for 11 AM.
