ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Loras College men's and women's tennis teams fell to the Vikings of Augustana College on Sunday afternoon. The men were blanked 7-0, while the women fell 5-2.
The Loras men got off to a slow start, dropping all three doubles matches.
The Duhawks were never able to gain any momentum, and were unable to find a win in singles play.
Hayden Martin saw his match go into a tiebreaker after his 7-6 win in set two, before falling in the tiebreaker 10-3.
The women were met with a similar fate in doubles play, dropping the three matches.
In singles play,
Mary Breitbach avenged her doubles loss with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 win over Hannah Colbert at No. 1. The second Duhawk point came at No. 5, where
Saydie Roling defeated Maddy Harned 7-5, 7-6.
Up Next: The men will return to the court on Monday, April 20, for senior day at Tucker Tennis Courts. Match time is set for 4 p.m. The women will begin to prepare for the opening round of the American Rivers Conference. They will head to Waverly, Iowa on Tuesday, April 21 to take on Wartburg College.
