Box Score PELLA, Iowa – For the first time in program history, the Loras College men's tennis team defeated the Central College Dutch, 4-3, on Friday night.
The Duhawks got off to a hot start in doubles play, winning all three matches.
Abhyudit Nagar and Samuel Cana Guerrero were first on the board with their 6-2 win, followed by
Dali Martens and
Jaimes Palmer with their 6-4 win at No. 2.
Gage Becker and
Hayden Martin secured the sweep at No. 1, taking down Bodi Kortz and Alex Slaymaker, 7-5.
In singles play,
Horia Popa and Nagar gave Loras an early lead with their wins at No. 6 and 5. Popa cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6, while Nagar took down Fransisco Molina 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.
The Dutch put a comeback together at the No. 1, 2, and 3 spots, taking all three matches to tie the match at three.
Palmer was the hero on the night, taking down Gavin Jabonski in three sets to earn the program's first win over Central.
