Men's Tennis Drops Three on Week

MT. VERNON, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The early season struggles continued for the Loras Men's Tennis program as they suffered setbacks to Saint Ambrose, Wisconsin Lutheran, and Cornell on the weekend.

On Friday night, Saint Ambrose took each match of the dual to win 9-0. At No. 6 singles, senior Jack O'Neil came close to getting the Duhawks on the board, but lost the tiebreaker 10-8.

Loras competed in a triangular on Sunday against Wisconsin Lutheran and Cornell. In singles play against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Duhawks took home wins at No. 3, 4, and 5, thanks to freshman Zach Atzen, sophomore Neil Kane, and freshman Paul Mniszewski. The Warriors took all three matches in doubles play to win the dual 6-3.

Wrapping up the weekend against Cornell, senior Brian Falvey battled valiantly at No. 1 singles, coming back from a 6-0 loss in set one to even the match at one set a piece. In the tiebreaker, the two battled back and forth, but in the end Falvey came up just short, falling 15-13.

The Duhawks host UW-La Crosse at home on Saturday, March 28.
