SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
Fontbonne comes into the final weekend of its 2016 schedule with a 16-9 overall record and 3-8 mark in MCVL competition. Brendon Schwarze leads the Griffin attack with 2.62 kills per set while fellow outside hitter Stephen Lendy is right behind with 2.44 kills per set. Fontbonne has five players who average over 1.5 kills per set and, as a team, ranks third in the MCVL with 10.67 digs per set.

ALL TIME VS FONTBONNE
Loras went 1-1 in its two matchups with the Griffins in 2015, with both away teams coming away victorious in straight sets.

LAST TIME VS FONTBONNE
In their last meeting, the Duhawks fell 3-0 at the hands of Fontbonne on March 13, 2015. For Loras, TJ Esporas led the offensive output, totaling 15 kills while then-freshman Dawid Kasprzak added a career-high 11 kills. Other standout performers for the Duhawks were Blair Anderson, who anchored the backline with 14 digs and Shayne Marquez, who added a career-high 30 assists.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
In their first season of NCAA competition, the Greenville Panthers have posted an 11-11 overall record and 4-7 record in the highly-competitive MCVL. For Greenville, Daniel Bilinski is the focal point of the offense and ranks second in the MCVL with 3.72 kills per set and third in attack attempts with 612. Setter Tanner Smith has been responsible for many of these and his 9.33 assists per set ratio ranks eighth in the conference.

MARQUEZ FINDING MULTIPLE TARGETS
With Loras' 6-2 system in place, sophomores Shayne Marquez and Danny Krasich split time on the court as the setter. While the rotations may be split evenly, its been Marquez who has flourished in his respective rotation, totaling 431 sets this season. In 23 matches a season ago, Marquez finished with 364 assists. This season, Marquez is converting at a .449 assist rate.

SECOND SEASON NEARING ITS END
Loras' second season as a program is nearing completion with two regular season contests remaining. Under the direction of head coach Jeremy Thornburg, Loras has gone from a 3-20 season to 10-14 entering Friday's match against Fontbonne. Numerous program records have been reset this season, which speaks to the high level of competition and quality of athletes that Thornburg has brought to Dubuque.

NO STOPPING COMBS
In Loras' 3-0 win over Hilbert during the spring break trip, sophomore Jimmy Combs moved into first place in Loras' history with 10 total blocks, including three solo blocks. Combs has seen time in a multitude of positions, but this season has seen the greatest success in the middle.  With two regular season matches left, Combs has already set season records in total blocks (76) and assisted blocks (63). Combs needs one more solo block to top last season's solo block mark and gain sole possession of first place as the all-time leader.

ROSS MAKING A NAME FOR HIMSELF
Sophomore Dylan Ross broke the program record for kills in a season in Loras' match against Penn State Behrend on March 22. Ross, a second-year veteran of the program, finished his first season with 117 kills before taking his game to an elite level this season. Ross extended his record with seven kills in the spring trip finale against Penn State Altoon on March 23. The Oak Forest, Ill. native is averaging 2.16 kills per set and owns a .234 attack percentage entering the final weekend of the regular season. Ross has also contributed defensively for the Duhawks, posting 64 total blocks in 2016, nine of which were solo.
